I got a real big inspiration the other day from Lisa's blog, "The Lunch Box Project" where she illustrates her artwork not only on her blog but on playing cards. I think her work is awesome! It made me hungry again and this time not for food but to illustrate.
My profession has been creative for quite awhile, but I put my art aside because I don't like being a struggling artist! Truly, I may not know my place in the art world but I do love to create and I thought it would be soooo cool to combine my illustrations with my foodie site! I've been using some in a few of my posts already but I feel she's given me the courage to share more. After all, I share my life's happening so why not my art? I guess because I'm still so sensitive about it. I've never had professional training or gotten an art degree so I felt like I could never compete and that I wasn't on the same level as other artists. I've since learned that all artists have different ways of communicating their thoughts and they do it why can't I?
Lisa even mentioned that she didn't do illustrations like everyday but every time she felt the urge, she created something and posted it. I've started doing that now too and maybe not every post, but as much as possible I'll share an illustration to go with the recipe. I think mine are going to be tailored to how I feel that day or how I feel about the recipe I'm talking about. I've built a page to display my work and you can take a look at it right here!I look forward to illustrating more now that I have a reason to and it's another way to express myself. When I can let my mind relax, there's no telling what will come out! I encourage you to do whatever you like and if you can share it, that makes it even better. With all the pressures of life, I think we all need a hobby...something that takes our minds away from it all. It's such a great release!
Thanks to Jen & Lisa! :D
